Day 5 – Tuesday, Oct 7

Before lunch, though, we went to the Cliffs of Mohar. These cliffs are up to 700 ft tall. Ocean waves smash the bottom of the cliffs and send mist up the sides. The wind was a fairly consistent 30MPH, gusting probably closer to 50MPH. It could certainly push you across the walkway. Small streams ran off the top of the cliff, got caught by the air and got sent back over the top by the wind. After the cliffs, we drove to a nearby town for lunch. The only place open was a fish and chip place, where I actually tried the fish and chips. Maybe 3 or 4 bites of fish were not so bad, but the rest kindof looked nasty.

We caught a ferry across the river Shannon, and made our way to Kilarny. The hotel was quite interesting – lots of angled hallways, and tough to find your way around. Once our stuff was in the room, we loaded up the bus again for another couple hours touring the Kilarny National Park area. Dinner at the hotel was salad, lamb stew, and chef’s dessert. That evening is known as one of the better evenings to go out on the tour, so I joined in. First, the bus dropped us off at a cocktail bar called the Kube, where we stayed for a couple hours chatting, enjoying music, and watching darts on TV – a popular TV sport in Ireland evidently. After this, the tour guide suggested another bar with live music. We all expected live Irish music, but it ended up being a cover band. It was a very good cover band though, and we all enjoyed dancing and screaming Bon Jovi at the top of our lungs till 2am.

Nice Pics al! Wish I was there. Nothin like an Irish cover band playing 80's stuff.
The pictures are gorgeous! I'm a little jealous. :)
